This is the final episode of my podcast #I Am Writing about my journey pitching my screenplay, Olga, to film producers and directors and the results. It's a tale of tenacity and perseverance and never taking 'No' for an answer.
For me the answer is, Yes! Writing 'Olga - A Daughter's Tale' was so much easier than writing the screenplay. There's no writing about what the character is feeling or thinking in a screenplay. You must show it through visuals, behaviour, actions, and dialogue.
This episode describes the successes and failures I had with my promotional marketing plan for my book Olga - A Daughter's Tale.
The secret to good writing? ‘The careful daily application of the arse to the seat’. Dorothy Parker.
‘Research is creating new knowledge’. Neil Armstrong.
This episode begins with an introduction of how a totally inexperienced writer came late in her life to write a book and screenplay. It's an account of Marie Campbell's personal journey of the highs, lows, successes and failures of her writing projects which Marie feels may be of use to other new writers, so they can perhaps avoid the pitfalls that Marie fell into. Marie discusses the things she wished she'd taken the time to learn before embarking on writing the book and screenplay.
