Mark Keil grew up in Albuquerque, NM and was the New Mexico state high school singles champion in ‘85. He then played collegiately at the University of South Florida before embarking on a professional playing tennis career where he achieved an ATP high singles ranking of 167 in singles and 32 in doubles. He qualified for the main draw of Wimbledon in ’91 and ’93 in singles and the Australian Open in ’93 where he won a round. He defeated Pete Sampras in ’91 at the ATP Queens Club event when Sampras was #8 in the world He won five ATP World Tour doubles titles. He then coached in virtually every niche of tennis all over the world and is USPTA, PTR Certified. He also is a graduate of the USTA High Performance Coaching Program. He now calls Honolulu home.

I had a fascinating talk with tennis legend Roscoe Tanner. Everything about this man is iconic. He played in an iconic time, the 70s, when the ATP was formed, Battle of the Sexes and so much more. It's when I grew up and fell in love with tennis. His doubles partner was certainly iconic, Arthur Ashe the first top black player. He used the PDP racket which was virtually unknown. And he had the biggest clocked serve in tennis history for 30 years. We spoke for an hour and a half which is why I split this episode in two parts. Enjoy! I certainly did.
