I had full intentions to sporadically make this episode over a whole day at Beer, Booze, and Bonks – but forgot how chaotic a day like that could actually be. That’s not to say that I didn’t try, in fact, half of the episode was recorded live at the festival. The other half, though, I had to record once I got back home in studio.

16 Lots is fresh off not only their first big barrel-aged bottle release but also the massive announcement that they are going to be opening up a second location in Newport Kentucky, right at the Levy. It sounds like a great time to sit down for another episode of the Brewcast, right?

If you have been around Cincinnati Craft beer for a little while, you probably know Del Hall – he’s definitely caused a few waves with his yearly ‘Beer Fast’ that he does each spring – but he’s also one of the owners of Mason’s 16 Lots Brewing, and a really fantastic guy to sit down and have a beer with.

I love seeing new breweries open, and love it even more when they are located in areas that I feel are desperate for a place of their own.  Mason is exactly one of those places.  The city of Mason is a great place, with a ton of history that gets overlooked, but it feels like a desert of chain restaurants at times, with no place to really call its own.  16 Lots looks to change not only that, but to help tie the community in with the history of the city at the same time.
