#256: The elephant in the room
Published:

A long-overdue episode, this one, as we explore Newport County's ownership, the potential loss of league status, and the current existential crisis at NP19.

#255: The nadir?
Published:
#254: Slipping Through Our Fingers
Published:

Fuchs at the wheel and a point at home, is it good enough? Come and join us on a match-day diary with Jack, Ed and company as they navigate yet another win-less Rodney Parade outing.

#253: Fuchs' around, find out!
Published:

A pod of two halves for you again, in what has been a momentous week for Newport County. In Part 1, Ed asks Jamie for his initial reaction to County's new manager announcement, and we also rifle through listeners' reactions to the appointment of Christian Fuchs. Then, in Part 2, Ed reports from an ultimately dispiriting loss at Oldham, catching up along the way with Ollie, Mark, Jane & Silvers. Whilst being as positive as they can about what the new manager might bring, there's also no sugar-coating just how desperate things look for a County side rooted to the bottom of the Fourth Division, and now five points from safety.

#252: Hughes out
Published:

An emergency pod of sorts, as Newport County finally part ways with manager Dave Hughes. First up, Alfie, along with friend of the pod Marc, report from the final match of the Hughes era up at Shrewsbury yesterday.

#251: The team with the hole
Published:

A team effort this one as we hear from Ed, Ollie, Dave, Iwan, Fraser, Hwyligan, Jamie & Ian - as well as from Nathan Blake whose new podcast with Rob Phillips is well worth a listen. Between them, they consider a range of listener questions/thoughts, analyse County's loss to table-topping Walsall, and consider what November might herald.

#250: Sestercentennial
Published:

Our 250th episode of the pod (the sestercentennial, for those of you who wanting to know the official term), and a chance to stretch our legs with a longer-form episode. Rhys is in the chair, with Jamie and Alfie chipping in to discuss where Newport County find ourselves at the end of #OctopusOctober (how did that stick as a name?!?) and what the coming weeks might bring. They also effortlessly weave in clips and contributions from:

#249: Old school 4-4-2
Published:

Well my goodness, where did that come from? Ian's at the helm at what is now a happy stomping ground in Harrogate away. Featuring Dave (YrAlltudion) and Iwan, it's a classic matchday diary away in another northern town.

#248: Where now?
Published:

Rhys sat down on Sunday night with Ed and Ian to read the runes after Newport County's humbling by Cheltenham Town, and to ask the big questions.

#247: Cheltenham preview - BONUS POD
Published:

A bit of bonus content for you. Ed sat down for what was supposed to be a ten-minute match preview chat with our Cheltenham counterparts for a short social media clip - but it ended up being such a good conversation we thought we'd put it out as an extra poodcast. Ed is joined by Dan from The Robins Report podcast and the Talk of the County podcast to discuss both sides' prospects on Saturday.

#246: Back to back
Published:

A pod of two halves. Ed kicks things off, giving his reaction to County's win over Cardiff in the Football League Trophy, on his cycle home from the game. Then, in Part 2, he hands the reins over to Ian to nervously describe County nursing their way through to a 1-0 away victory at Accrington. Back-to-back wins, and perhaps finally some cause for optimism amongst the fanbase?

#245: Bottom of the league (Swindon match-diary)
Published:

Come with us on a journey with family and friends on our jaunt towards the bottom of the league against Swindon at Rodney Parade. A matchday diary co-hosted by Jack and Cousin Joe of Loathed Stranger Podcast fame.

#244: Worst week SO FAR
Published:

Dear me, what a season this is turning into. In sheer exasperation, the pod crew tried to have a breather from County matters this week, so we're grateful to our listeners Dave & Iwan and Max for sending through reports on the matches against Arsenal B and Chesterfield respectively. We also mention the recent NCAFC Trust statement - do have a read if you haven't already.

#243: Live at the Riverside!
Published:

An absolutely MASSIVE thank you to everyone who joined us live at the Riverside Sports Bar after the Gillingham game for a chat. We welcomed some familiar faces, some away fans - and best of all some listeners we'd never met before! Apologies that we didn't get everyone's names; if you were a newbie who chatted with us, do drop us a line so we can say a proper thank you. Between the dozen or so attendees, we discussed the Gillingham match and the much improved performance, but also the unignorable lack of points which September has yielded. We also pan out to discuss what October might bring and wider matters around the club.

#242: Stopping the rot
Published:

Despite his therapist’s advice (apparently six losses on the bounce are NOT good for the soul), our man on the northern beat, Mr Ian Street, meandered across the Pennines to bring you his unique reporting on Newport’s trip to Tranmere.

#241: The WRU's decision
Published:

With the Welsh Rugby Union considering reducing the number of Welsh rugby regions from four down to two, this episode explores some of the potential ramifications - not just for rugby, but for Rodney Parade, for Newport County, for the city centre and for local businesses. To get a full range of insights, we hear from Jamie (of the Dragons Lair podcast), Dan (from the Riverside Sports Bar) and from our own Ed.

#240: Diet b*stard
Published:

We threw this one open to our listeners, with Jack and Ed punctuating things whilst getting views from Alfie, Chris, Stu, Fraser, Ollie, Tinty John, Dave, Iwan and a whole host of Twitterers and Blueskyers who replied to our appeal for post-match thoughts on the home defeat to Bristol Rovers. It's not the most uplifting listen, but huge thanks to everyone who contributed.

#239: Eight games in
Published:

Six league games, two cup games, one win, two draws (inc. a penalty shootout win) and five losses. But what have we gleaned from those games about the Dai Hughes era at Newport County? Rhys is joined by Ian and Ed to divine what we can about this team, to ponder what's needed in the last 24hrs of the transfer window, and make some predictions about the month ahead. No spoilers, but basically Wake Us Up When September Ends.

#238: Mark O'Brien
Published:

It's another one of our #BigInterviews. Huge thanks to bonafide club legend Mark O'Brien for joining us. Rhys is in the hotseat as Mark chats about his time at the club. He joined under Graham Westley, scored THAT Great Escape goal, and was a feature of the side as it evolved under Mike Flynn to progress to two play-off finals and numerous cup runs, and this summer was appointed club ambassador.

#237: Humber beginnings
Published:

We're back with another episode for your ears as the August games come thick and fast. Jamie brings you Ed's analysis from our League Cup match at home to Millwall, before the first Ian Street match diary of the season, making his way to Grimbsy at the weekend. Featuring existentialism, pragmatism, and that all-too-familiar realism with sucker punch injury time winners.

#236: Early impressions
Published:

A pod of three parts for you. The first half features a review of the fine win at Crawley, courtesy of our correspondent Ashley Healey. Then, in Part 2, we have a rare Rhys Warren Monologue™ to unpack the Notts County game, and a preview of Tuesday night's League Cup opponents, via our counterparts at the Achtung! Millwall podcast.

#235: Bonkers Barnet, Notts County, and 606
Published:

We wait all summer for the season to start, and THAT'S what we're treated to? Oh Newport County, don't ever change. Jamie attempts to dissect that wild League Cup game at Barnet on Tuesday night, joined by occasional contributor Dave (YrAlltudion). From screamers to injury time capitulation, they try and figure out what's in store for the season after getting a first look at Dave Hughes' side in competitive action.

#234: Season preview
Published:

Gentleman, start your engines, the 2025/26 season is upon us... Jamie has the unenviable task of chairing the panel in this one - he welcomes Jack, Ian, Ed, Rhys and new crew member Alfie to give their thoughts on the season ahead. They discuss the strength in depth of the squad, likely tactical approaches, the panel's hopes and dreams for the season, and our predictions of where the team will finish in the Fourth Division.

#233: James Watts on football finance
Published:

We have another summer special for your ears, listeners!

#232: Rogerstone AFC Ladies
Published:

Welcome back, Exiles! Another pod of two halves for you - the first half is a quick news roundup from Ed, featuring reviews from Hwyligan of County's pre-season draw at Pontypridd, and from Ollie of the win at Undy.

#231: Joss Labadie
Published:

In another of the podcast’s #BigInterviews, former Newport County skipper and marauding midfielder Joss Labadie sat down with Ian and Jamie for a look back on his time at Rodney Parade. From the Great Escape and injuries, to cup runs and playoff finals, Joss opened up on that five-year period where he experienced everything there is to experience as a League Two captain.

#230: County in the Community catchup
Published:

One of the joys of the summer break is that it gives us chance to check in with our old friends at County in the Community to hear about what they’re up to. We’ve had chats previously in Ep186 on Walking Football, and in Ep132 on Fit Fans, and in this episode Ed sits down with Norm Parselle, Richard Taylor and Mike Pratt to hear about current projects on fan engagement, inclusion and on County memories. As we say on the pod, County may be a Fourth Division club, but we have a Champions League level community arm – so be sure to follow CitC on all your social media channels, and you can also donate towards their work via their website.

#229: Brighter times ahead
Published:

Bloomin' heck, we've got a new manager! Jamie, Rhys, and Ian assemble to discuss David Hughes' appointment as the new Newport County gaffer, Wayne Hatswell's jam-filled return to Rodney Parade, and we take a peek at the released and retained list.

#228: The ever-presents
Published:

Thank god that's over... County signed off the 2024/25 season in dismal fashion, crashing to a 4-1 home defeat to Tranmere Rovers. Ed, Ollie and pod debutant Jane Brussalis discuss what went wrong. But we then pan out, to ask two of County's most loyal fans about their experiences of watching County on the road this season - what were the highs and lows, how many miles did they travel per point earned, and what's a typical away day like on the official Supporters' Club coach? Jane and Ollie do a fine job of plugging the experience - so be sure to follow the Supporters' Club on Twitter / Facebook, and consider giving it a go next season if you're not a frequent flyer already.

#227: Objectively safe, subjectively dreadful
Published:

It's time for another Ian Street match diary - this time to watch a pretty insipid performance as County lost 2-0 at Fleetwood, with little to cheer for the away fans. Along the way, he catches up with Ollie, Arnie, Dave, Iwan, Mark and Harri. They discuss County's many tactical deficiencies, who might make the best next Head Coach, and jump on board the tactics truck for an unexpected starting XI...

#226: The (nearly) end-of-season special!
Published:

We know there are still two games to go, but with mathematical safety now assured, we decided it was time to get the full panel (sans Rhys) together for an end-of-season review episode. Jack is in the chair, and he corrals Ian, Jamie and Ed as they consider the big questions about how the season has gone, whether changes are needed to the coaching setup over the summer, and which players should be retained at all costs or ditched at the earliiest opportunity. If you want to play along at home, here's the full list of which players each of our panel would keep / discard.

#225: On the beach?
Published:

Our panel of Ed, Arnie, Dave & Iwan run their eye over County's 0-2 defeat to Colchester. Was it an improved performance, or more of the same? Are we now 'on the beach'? And if so, should that be something to celebrate given pre-season expectations, or is it a big cause for concern?

#224: Spineless
Published:

A short but to-the-point episode after that disastrous, calamitous collapse at Brunton Park yesterday. We're grateful to listener Andrew Morrison for reporting on a day that many will want to forget, but which is likely to loom large over the run-in to the season. Surrendering a two-goal lead against the worst side in the whole ruddy Football League is the sort of result which can really cast a long shadow...

#223: Taking the temperature
Published:

On the basis that you've probably all heard more than enough from our regulars over recent weeks, we threw this episode open to our wider listenership and encouraged people to come forward who'd not been on previously or not been on for a while. We then used it as a chance to 'take the temperature' of the fanbase and gauge people's views on: whether the season has bettered expectations, which players have stood out (for good or ill), and how people feel about Nelson Jardim as Head Coach. A huge thank you to those who got in touch. As a result, in this episode we hear from:

#222: Fishing for points
Published:

Buoyed on by last week’s day out at Rodney Parade, our man on the northern beat, Ian Street, accompanied this time by the Good Doctor Ed Bridges, takes us on another whimsical tour of a northern town, while fitting in Newport County’s 1-0 reverse up at Grimsby.

#221: Perfect day
Published:

Podcasters assemble! For only the second time ever, all five of the podcast team managed to attend the same game (albeit we only saw Rhys from across the pitch, as he waved to us from the nice seats in the Bisley Stand). And what a lovely day we had! A few jars, some decent scran in the Indoor Market, bumped into plenty of familiar and very friendly faces, and then watched an easy stress-free 3-0 home win in the sunshine. Can it always be like this, please?

#220: Cheery moments(!)
Published:

Oh dear, oh dear... Back-to-back away defeats to northern sides around us in the table. We bring you Ian's match diary from County’s drubbing at Accrington, and then we listen in as Ed catches up with our old friend Phil In Northampton who made the trip to witness Saturday’s defeat at Chesterfield.

#219: Flipping good!
Published:

A mini pod, with Ed offering some pre-match and post-match words either side of a fine win against Gillingham - and getting some thoughts too from Ollie. Three great goals from Bobby Kamwa, an easy three points, and surely some breathing space now as we enter into spring.

#218: Hitting the wall
Published:

After a short break from pod action, we're back - Jamie is in the chair, and is joined by County blogger Mark Vickery to garner their insights on defeats to Cheltenham (H) and Doncaster (a). They discuss the need for a bit more anger from this team, Kyle Jameson's many second chances, and a possible lack of leadership. With big games coming up against the likes of Gillingham, Accrington and Harrogate, how can County address their growing list of weaknesses?

#217: Responding to questions
Published:

Ed and Ollie are the men behind the mic for this one. Under the clunky title of "Responding to questions", we do a cut-and-shunt pod. In Part 1 over a pint in the Riverside Sports Bar (the home of Welsh sports fans) we consider how County responded to the questions posed by Bradford being reduced to ten men early in the first half on Saturday. Then, in Part 2, we give some snap analysis after Tuesday night's Q&A session with the Trust and with County chairman Huw Jenkins...

#216: Different gravy
Published:

The boss is back - Rhys brings you some on-the-whistle analysis of the (lucky?) win against Carlisle. It sees County rise to the dizzy heights of 14th, having taken 13pts from their last five games. We also hear from Amber Arnie about Saturday's unexpected 3-0 away thumping of Crewe Alexandra, on what surely will be the best away day of the season.

#215: Six points richer
Published:

Isn't it nice to get back to winning ways and have a bit of daylight between County and the drop zone? Ed was on duty for the visit to Rodney Parade of Morecambe in a crucial Fourth Division six-pointer. Before, during and after the game he caught up with various friends of the pod to reflect on current issues and on last weekend's win against Barrow. Many thanks to Dai, Ollie, Dave and pod OG Rhys for their thoughts.

#214: Daniel Storey
Published:

No normal episode from us this weekend as we'll save ourselves up for a combined look at the Barrow and Morecambe games in the latter part of next week. Instead, we have a bonus episode in which Ian interviews the journalist Daniel Storey about his recent article in the i newspaper about visiting Rodney Parade. It's part of a series Daniel's writing as he "does the 92" during the course of the season, and it gives us a rare insight into how our club is seen by those outside. It's a great listen, and something to entertain you en-route to a pair of crucial upcoming home fixtures.

#213: Peninsula penalties
Published:

Our man on the northern beat, Ian Street, made the trip to Salford so you didn't have to... As well as reporting on a point gained (or two lost?) at the Peninsula Stadium, he also took in a community-run pub, bumped into a few friends of the pod (yer Diesels, yer Ollies) and chatted with some Carl Zeiss Jena fans. A classic of the genre!

#212: A reckoning
Published:

It's Ed and Simon / Hwyligan on duty, discussing Friday's defeat to Swindon (and last weekend's at Vale). We also seamlessly weave in a slew of listener thoughts on what's going wrong, how to fix it, and how best to salvage the season as County get sucked into a relegation battle. We also have some brief updates from the NCAFC Supporters' Trust about their AGM last week, and from the Newport United futsal team about their season's progress.

#211: Huw Jenkins
Published:

A big episode of the podcast, as Ian & Jamie sit down to speak with County chairman, Huw Jenkins. In the interview (recorded on Thursday evening, prior to the Tom Davies signing and the Vale game), Huw tells us about his love of football, his vision for the club, and gives an honest assessment of progress so far this season. It's a really engaging, long-form discussion, and one that County fans won't want to miss.

#210: A winter warmer
Published:

With postponements and FA Cup action, Newport County has found themselves in the middle of a winter break of sorts. So with time to kill, and it being far too cold outside to do anything else, Jamie, Rhys and Ian gathered together to take stock at the half-way point of the season.

#209: Bonus episode - innovations
Published:

If, like us, your Sunday afternoon was thrown into chaos by the postponement of County's game against Morecambe, then here's something to fill the void. A few months back, during a lads' holiday to Cyprus to watch a Nations League match, various podcast alumni had a pub chat about "things from football past we'd bring back" and "things from football present which have made football better". We've sat on the recording because we knew a situation like this weekend's postponement would arise - so here it is, enjoy!

#208: Curate's egg
Published:

Welcome back, hope you had a good Christmas. Ed didn't get to any of County's festive fixtures, so he sought to find out what he missed by speaking to Amber Arnie, Wise Dan and Dave "Yr Alltudion" (whose Welsh-language County updates can be found on Twitter, Bluesky and Mastodon). The gang discuss the league games against Franchise FC, Bromley and Walsall - and what needs to change ahead of the big double-header against AFC Wimbledon and Morecambe.

#207: Christmas Special
Published:

Jamie is at the controls and is joined by Rhys, Ed and Ian for some festive cheer. We are joined by the Ghost of Christmas Past to discuss our early memories of watching games, the Ghost of Christmas Present to discuss our favourite grounds, and then the Ghost of Christmas Future to talk about our ideal pre-season tour for next summer... It's a lot of fun, and hopefully whiles away the time for you on those long festive drives to visit family.

#206: The Grind
Published:

Ed is joined by Ollie and Hwyligan to get their views on the matches they saw at Wimbledon and Colchester and to ask how they think the season is going. Is the current run of form and the struggle for goals a concern, or evidence or progress? And are we ahead of or behind pre-season expectations?

#205: Trust update
Published:

With County's match against Carlisle falling victim to #StormDarragh, we're bringing you some bonus content - an interview which Rhys & Ed recorded a few weeks back with Nic and Arnie from the NCAFC Supporters' Trust. It's a great listen, and should scratch the Saturday afternoon itch for you. We'll be back next weekend with analysis of the Wimbledon and Colchester games - if you're making the trip to the latter and fancy coming on the pod, let us know.

#204: Taking stock / Teras Podcast Network
Published:

Ian and Ed bring you the first episode of a new era, as the 1912 Exiles join the Teras media group stable. As we explain, this will make little difference to your experience as a listener, but we’re excited about working with some really great people to hopefully grow the podcast’s reach in Wales.

#203: Notts nought nought
Published:

A short episode, with Ian bringing you a match diary from a very cold but worthwhile trip to Nottingham for County's away draw at Meadow Lane. Along the way, we also hear from debutant Paul as well as old regulars Stu, Chris and Ollie.

#202: Nelson Jardim speaks!
Published:

An exciting milestone for the pod, as Ian & Ed sit down with County's head coach, Nelson Jardim, for an in-depth chat about his roots, his influences, his footballing philosophy... and his wine recommendations! A must-listen episode for all County fans.

#201: Tranmere, 606 and Chepstow
Published:

Lots to get through this week... Jamie is at the controls and he seamlessly weaves together:

#200: Four point week
Published:

What better way to mark our Double Ton of episodes than by bringing you even more voices than usual! First there's a (very brief) live conflab outside the marquee before the Fleetwood game where Rhys, Ed and Jack contemplate how Newport County have changed in the seven years we've been podding. Then we listen back to Ed asking Hwyligan about what he saw at Priestfield on Tuesday night, before Rhys and Jamie ponder the Fleetwood game and what might have been.

#199: Fire up the Tactics Truck
Published:

After a dozen games of the Fourth Division season, we decided now was the time to have a bit of a deep dive into tactics. Ed, Ian and Jack discuss fulcrums ("fulcra"?), double pivots, and inverted wingers, drawing on what they collectively saw in recent games against Harrogate, Bradford and Chesterfield. We also check in on progress by our featured local teams in focus, Undy Women AFC and Chepstow Town, and Jack starts a beef with Spytty The Dog.

#198: Yorkshire Week
Published:

In a classic “give the public what the public want to hear move”, the 1912 Exiles bring you a double portion of our man on the northern beat, Ian Street. The perfect guide for a bumper week of Yorkshire away days – first at Bradford City on Monday and then at Harrogate Town on the Saturday. Both defeats, of course, but as you’ll hear there are some positives to be found amidst County’s truly woeful away form. On the way he hears from OllieStuChris, Nathan and Andrew; if you want to be like them and come on the pod for a chat, our DMs are open.

#197: Two under par
Published:

A minipod this one, with Rhys and Ed giving a quick ten-minute analysis of the 3-1 win over Salford, and predicting consistent inconsistency for the rest of a tumultuous Fourth Division season. Send us your thoughts via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn; you can also donate to our ko-fi if you'd like to support what we do.

#196: The Mighty Ducks
Published:

Ed is joined by Chris Kirwan of the South Wales Argus to revel in a deserved but unexpected victory at home to Crewe. They touch on Chris' talking points from the game (which are well worth a read) and consider the result in the wider context of a developing squad under a new manager.

#195: Don't Lose Your Head
Published:

It's Ian in the chair for this one, joined by Ed and Ollie to discuss consecutive heavy defeats to Port Vale and Swindon Town. Our trio strive for a balanced and constructive perspective, identifying the shortcomings and diagnosing possible solutions but without wallowing too much in the gloom. See whether you think their analysis gets it about right - and if you don't, contact us via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn to give your views.

#194: Undy Women & Cheltenham
Published:

A bonus episode for you, consisting of two halves:

#193: Streety does Morecambe
Published:

Ian Street, man on the northern beat provides an away diary at Morecambe!

#192: Firing on all cylinders
Published:

Ed is back in the chair again, and is joined by Caitlin to discuss another 3-1 home win against a team from the north. They talk about County's pragmatism in overcoming Accrington, lavish praise on Nick Townsend, and Caitlin starts a Madri-related beef... We also hear from Morecambe fan Dave Salmon about what to expect from next weekend's hosts.

#191: Sigh of relief
Published:

August is a big month for debuts, and we have one of our own - listener Rob made his first appearance on the pod, to talk about Tuesday's defeat at Orient, alongside Ed who witnessed Saturday's glorious home win against Doncaster. Between them they discuss the switch from a back five to a back four, fizzy midfielders, and squad depth. This was recorded and edited in haste due to holiday plans and lack of access to our usual tech - so apologies for the shonky audio; normal service will be resumed next week.

#190: Cheltenham away
Published:

What better way to start the new season than with an Ian Street match diary? Apart from an Ian Street match diary where we win, ovvo.

#189: Season preview
Published:

We managed to wrangle all five podders for our big season preview episode. Jack was obviously late, and Jamie sent in pre-recorded bits from his Finnish sauna holiday - but their additions burnished contributions from Ian, Rhys and Ed. Together, the panel pulled together a comprehensive guide, even for those who might have zoned out a bit over the summer. The episode covers (timings approximate):

#188: Barry, Llandudno and... Chepstow
Published:

It's Jack on hosting duties this week. In a record for the 1912 Exiles, we bring you reports from two County matches on the same day! Ed reports on a rainy afternoon for County at Barry Town, whilst our North Wales correspondent Paul tells you what you need to know of the standout players from the U18s defeat at Llandudno in the MG Cup.

#187: From Cock-Out to Jard-In!
Published:

A quick pod to respond to the news that Nelson Jardim has been appointed as Newport County's AFC's new Head Coach, with Ed and Jamie giving their instinctive, subjective gut reaction.

#186: Newsround / CitC walking football
Published:

Part One sees Jamie & Ian catch up on all the latest Newport County news. They critique the new kit, recent signings, forthcoming friendlies, the Football League TV deal and the thorny issue of ground naming rights.

#185: Los Leones
Published:

Whilst we await a new managerial appointment and further signings, we bring you another summer special bonus episode! In this one, Ian speaks to Christopher Evans, Newport-based author of Los Leones: the unique story of Athletic Club Bilbao. They discuss a surprising link between the Basque Country and Caerleon, the wider cultural overlap between the region and Wales, and of course the fascinating history of Athletic as a club.

#184: Cock Out
Published:

Avengers assemble! Sort of. As news broke this morning that Graham Coughlan has left Newport County, Ed and Rhys scrambled to join Jamie in this emergency podcast record.

#183: A matter of Trust
Published:

In the first part of the pod, Jack brings you a newsround covering recent goings-on at 1912 Exiles Towers and at Rodney Parade. We also hear from The Other Three Amigos podcast about how they thought Nathan Wood got on during his recent loan spell at Cork City.

#182: Newport, not County
Published:

It's Ed on duty for our first summer special, looking at local football beyond our beloved Newport County, as we try to squeeze the last few drops of football out of the season whilst there are games to watch. It's an episode in three parts, covering (approximate timings):

#181: The Raggy Dolls
Published:

The big end-of-season special is here! Ian, Rhys & Jamie offer their perspectives on County's 2023/24 season, with Ed keeping order. We cover (approximate timings):

#180: La Salvezza
Published:

As County haul themselves over the line after a draining, frustrating but also at times surprising and memorable season, we check in for our final regular episode of 2023/24. We'll have a full end-of-season review and some summer specials in the weeks ahead - but for this one we've got Ian Street's match diary from Bradford (a), and then we chat with Amber Arnie and Nigel Dutson about what they learnt at last Thursday's meeting of the Newport County AFC Supporters' Trust.

#179: Feeble, weak and not ourselves
Published:

Six defeats on the bounce, so it's not the most uplifting episode. In the first half, Jack and Ed discuss the defeat to Tranmere and Cocko's post-match critique. In the second half, we throw it open to your voicenotes and reaction. Many thanks to everyone who sent in contributions.

#178: Jekyll & Jekyll
Published:

Two cheeks of the same arse, those two performances. Ian reports on the away defeat at Grimsby, lightening the gloom with some whimsical chat about floodlights and sea views. Ed then takes up the reins for a Tuesday night at home to Accrington Stanley in front of 3,000 die-hards, chatting along the way with yer Ollies, yer Stus, yer Chrises and yer Amber Arnies.

#177: April fools
Published:

Our first big panel discussion for a while - sadly sans Rhys, but Jack does an excellent job of corralling Ian, Ed & Jamie to make sense of recent events. It's a long one, this episode, so here's what to expect and when in the episode (rough timings, depends on adverts length!):

#176: Blown away at Barrow
Published:

It's another Ian Street match diary, but sadly without quite the same level of joie de vivre as last weekend. The "fifth Beatle" of the pod, Ollie, also makes an appearance - but neither of them find much to warm the soul from a frustrating and cold afternoon in Barrow.

#175: A grand day out (Wimbledon away)
Published:

Well, get ready for an Ian Street matchday diary extraordinaire, ably supported by Ed & Jamie, as well as an assortment of guest appearances, including Stu, Fraser, Ollie, the Dragons Lair podcast & more! Wimbledon still doesn't know what hit it.

#174: Madden-ing

So near, but yet so far... Analysing that painful late, late defeat at Edgeley Park, Ed & Jamie are joined by pod debutant Alfie and regular contributor Ollie to question the officiating whilst still paying tribute to a battling performance that so nearly paid off. Ahead of Tuesday night's Fourth Division game against Morecambe, we also thank Dave Salmon for his voicenote telling us everything we need to know about our visitors.

#173: Staggered!
Published:

The 1912 Exiles threw this one open to you - our wonderful listeners - to make sense of today's defeat to Mansfield. Some agreed with our view that today just needs to be dismissed as an off day against a quality side - others argued that this showed a lack of ambition, and wholesale changes are required. There were some strong words for the ref, differing opinions about the quality of our opponents, and a lot of looking ahead to what the summer might hold. Whether you agree with us and we agree with you, thank you to everyone who took the time to send stuff in. And if you missed your opportunity today then you can contact us through Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, and you can contribute a voicenote via our Speakpipe page.

#172: Harrogate (A) a.k.a. Newport County 4

Our man on the northern beat, Ian Street, makes a rare foray even further towards the arctic to bring you a matchday diary from Harrogate away. In the middle of a dizzying start to 2024, Newport County find themselves just two points off the playoffs, with huge games to come in the next few weeks.

#171: In the eye of the media storm
Published:

In a highly unusual move, we're dropping an episode on a Saturday and bringing you another belting interview. In this one, Jamie speaks with Chris Kirwan (of the South Wales Argus) and Louis Cartwright-Walls (Media Manager for Newport County AFC) about being at the centre of the media storm during our FA Cup tie with Manchester United. They discuss having to stay professional when all around them were getting carried away with the hype, the mixed feelings towards the journos turning up to Rodney Parade as one-off day-trippers, and their matchday routines.

#170: Notts, Gills and crypto
Published:

Another 'pod of two halves' as we balance analysis of on-the-pitch matters with a broader look at other issues. Part 1 of this episode is a catch up between Rhys and Ed about the home matches against Notts County and Gillingham, with County demonstrating great 'bouncebackability' powered by Will Evans' scoring antics. Then, in Part 2, we speak with Martin Calladine about his new book, No Questions Asked: how football joined the crypto con. The book is excellent, and comes highly recommended by your 1912 Exiles, and Martin gives us his insights into how poorly-regulated and often criminal crypto enterprises have preyed on football fans.

#169: Walsall away, feat. H.W.J. Charsley
Published:

We were going to wait until after the Notts County game to drop an episode, but after THAT 3-0 win up at Walsall, Jamie demanded an emergency pod. So he dragged Ed out of bed on a Sunday morning, and with the help of Arnie's match day diary, they dissected that cracking away performance.

Yes yes, we know that there's the big victory over Wrexham to discuss – but we wanted to cynically capitalise on the extra interest around the Man Utd game, so we’ve created this big preview show. We’ll do a feature-length episode in a week or so to discuss how we managed to bring down the Gogs and also however we fare in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
