According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, a third-party cleaner (male worker), went in an unauthorized area of the zoo and put his hand through the enclosure and was bitten by the Tiger "Eko". The Tiger would not release his arm and continued pulling on the worker's arm causing serious injury, potentially life threatening. Deputies responded and shot Eko, the tiger after initial attempts to get the tiger to release failed.
