Cam and Miss E are playing chicken with the propane used to heat their home, with bad weather and an old farm road delaying a refuel. 

As Miss E prepares to start a new round of treatment for her cancer, she and Cam are saying a temporary farewell to alcohol, but not before sampling some of the tomato wine (yes, it's just what it sounds like) they started brewing back in the fall. 

Cam and Miss E may be a little grumpier than normal in this episode, thanks to the continued reconstruction of their kitchen floor, but at least the pair have discovered more history of their old farmhouse in the process.

It's hunting season in Virginia, and that means it's time for packs of hunting dogs to tear across the 40 acres in pursuit of deer, only to get sidetracked by the goats of Corny Goat Farm. Miss E's got a few things to say about the practice, while Cam has an update on the Second Amendment Sanctuary movement sweeping the state. 

It's been a brutal fall on the 40 Acres, at least for Cam and Miss E's flock of chickens. The pair are doing battle with possums and other predators, but for now the possums are winning. Plus, Cam's got the latest on the aftermath of the Virginia elections, while Miss E has some great fall recipe ideas. 

It's not gold and jewels, but Cam and Miss did find an artistic gem in a very unlikely spot not far from the 40 Acres. Plus, Miss E's craftiness is paying off, and the pair talk over her latest challenges in her fight with cancer.

Miss E's been busy boxing up hot sauce to send out this week, while Cam's been finding his rhythm at his new job. And on the farm, the pair are dealing with a new challenge: after six years of raising chickens, one of the hens has suddenly developed a taste... for eggs. 

Cam's got a new job, Miss E's got new tomatoes, and the pair have some homemade hot sauce to give away to 20 lucky listeners!  Speaking of hot... with the heat index soaring to 115, they're looking to hear from you about ways to beat the summer heat.  

It's amazing the amount of milk you can get from just one tiny dairy goat, and while Cam and Miss E aren't quite literally swimming in the stuff, they are getting almost a gallon a day.  Miss E's been trying her hand at making cheeses, while Cam joined in as the pair made goat's milk soap for the very first time.  Plus, a new poll suggests Americans want to live in rural areas over anywhere else... so what's getting in our way? 

There's a groundhog invasion (or at least an infilration) on the 40 Acres, but Miss E's channeling her inner Annie Oakley and taking aim the rodents before can do much damage.  Cam takes a look at the rural protests against "cap and trade" gripping Oregon right now, and the pair hear from one listener who's been talked into and out of moving to the Farmville area.  

Miss E's joining Cam with some good news on the cancer front this week, along with much less important (but entertaining!) discussions and digressions on sourdough, socialism, and the gift of goats by mail.  

Ever since Donald Trump entered the Republican primary in 2015, there've been fights between various factions of the Right, each proclaiming themselves to be the true keeper of the conservative flame. Cam digs in to the 1965 New York mayoral election, featuring the Republican John Lindsay and the Conservative William F. Buckley and finds some surprising commonalities between then and now.  

With one week before her next scan, Miss E's a little worried about what comes next in her fight with cancer.  In the meantime, though, she's milking goats, knitting up a storm, and making the most out of every day.  Plus, some of the goats of Corny Goat Farm are taking a field trip, and Cam and Miss are getting ready for a 2nd Amendment Saturday with friends.

In 1971, attorney Robert Kukla authored "Gun Control", a look back at the founding of the modern gun control movement in the 1960's and its push for sweeping anti-gun legislation that resulted in the Gun Control Act of 1968.  From the anti-NRA media campaigns to anti-gun politicians hoping to capitalize on tragedy and more, Cam documents the many ways in which the gun control debate today resembles the fight of 50 years ago, and what 2nd Amendment supporters can learn from the legislative battles back then.

Miss E's a warrior when it comes to her fight with cancer, but there are some days when it's really tough to be tough. This week, you'll hear the tale of how she got her fighting spirit back with the help of a hot lather head shave, and she and Cam also have news about the latest additions to the farm, the barn cats' first trip to the vet, and more!  

As Democratic presidential candidates line up behind vague policies and alarmist rhetoric of the Green New Deal, Cam takes a look at the book that inspired the original New Deal back in the 1930's and finds not only a love of central planning, but a desire to end capitalism, small businesses, and "rugged individualism" itself.

It's an unplanned food-themed episode as Cam and Miss E dig into some of the country's best BBQ, unpack a gift box from Japan full of all kinds of weird snacks, and get into their plans for this year's garden.  The pair also delve into the latest craziness in Virginia politics, and you'll learn why their rooster Clyde has a brand new name.  

Like many Virginia families, the big topic for the kitchen table conversation between Cam and Miss E this week is the state's governor Ralph Northam his dual scandals of wearing blackface in the 1980's and his seeming support for doctor-assisted infanticide today. Miss E's got updates on her own fight for life, and Cam's making his pitch for bacon seeds since it's the Year of the Pig.

As controversy over Virginia Governor Ralph Northam's history with blackface rages, Cam's digging into the story of segregation and civil rights in Virginia with the help of Sarah Patton Boyle's "The De-Segregated Heart", her 1962 autobiography which Martin Luther King, Jr.  called "one of the most eloquent and captivating documents that has emerged from the Southern situation", and yet it is largely (and sadly) forgotten today. 

In the final look at the 1955 classic "Reflections on the Failures of Socialism", Cam looks at what author Max Eastman suggested as an alternative future to increasing collectivism: The Distributive State.  

Cam's flying solo this week while Miss E recovers from her latest round of chemotherapy, and he's got good news about his lovely bride, some painful news about Chico the goat, and a chance for you to make some real money from fake farming!

Owning an old home is great if you love history and DIY home improvement projects. This week, Cam and Miss E head to the cellar to deal with a plumbing problem, which leads to another problem... and maybe a solution.Plus, Cam has some new garden tech to preview and check-ins with some fellow “fools” from across the country.

The first big snowstorm of the winter is falling as Cam and Miss E sit down at the kitchen table this week. Stuck inside, Miss E's spending a lot of time in the kitchen making Christmas cookies and Vietnamese pho (one of her favorite cold weather dishes) while Cam's been romping through the snow with Zelda and Bulleit the farmdogs.  There's some off-farm news to talk about as well with New Jersey's awful new magazine ban going into effect, and a listener writes in to say goodbye to a beloved friend.

It’s open season on the groundhogs of the 40 acres, especially the unknown (but clearly large) population that’s moved in under an old cabin near Cam and Miss E’s house. There are big updates on the garden, and for once it’s not Cam who’s been doing the traveling! Miss E’s got a full report on her culinary adventures in the Chicagoland-area. Plus, we’ll talk about which American city is saying “no” to backyard chickens, and the quiet push for “right-to-repair” laws across the country.

Cam Edwards and Miss E discuss the politics of the Civil Eats website and how the American Legislative Exchange Council declaration of their "Opposition to Repair" bills. They explain it as, if it's is a product that you've developed, but bought from another company, they have to make sure you did not create any unauthorized repairs to the product. Miss E claims it as "Quality Control," but this unfortunately allows companies to monopolize farming equipment and tools to increase profits, but Cam does not think that it should be legal. He also thinks that the farmers as well as the equipment companies have valid arguments, when it comes to farming.

For weeks now, Cam and Miss E have been having trouble with their chickens laying eggs in random places around the farm. Apparently they missed a few, because the pair recently stumbled upon one of the foulest (fowlest?) substances known to man: eggs so rotten they explode at the touch. Tune in for that tale, check-ins from fellow fools around the country, and a warning from the CDC about “chicken cuddling”.

Cam and Miss E worked hard into the night, on their gardening over the weekend. They weeded out the garden beds and built a new chicken tunnel near 30ft long that they have claimed as the Chicken Palace. They talk about building a temporary wall to keep the chickens in the tunnels on one side of the yard while they finish building the rest of the Palace. Much of their weekend was spent, assembling more of the garden beds and planting tomatoes and basil. They also added builing a fence to their list of work for more of the garden beds. Hopefully in the near future they'll be finished building and ready for planting!

On today's show, Cam Edwards reports on a story about California farmer, John Duarte, who's being fined by a federal agency because he allegedly "disturbed the waters of the United States," by plowing on wetlands...during a dry season, which are also his property that he purchased! Duarte is facing a 2.8 million dollar fine for not only plowing in this area. but because "he did not obtain a permit to work near the wetlands." Crazy stuff...

The good news: the new chickens Cam and Miss E got a few weeks ago are now laying eggs. The bad news: they’re laying eggs all over the farm. The start of summer vacation for the kids leads to a discussion about grown ups and video games, and the pair check in with friends old and new from across the country.
