The conclusion of our Season Preview Shows is the Atlantic Division. Will Tampa Bay be the first team to three-peat since the Islanders’ dynasty of the early 80’s? Can the Senators take the next step and complete for a playoff spot? And just how bad can it get in Buffalo this season?

The guys move onto the Eastern Conference previews with the next division, the Metro Division. Will we start to see the decline of Crosby, Ovechkin, and Malkin this year? Does Alexis Lafrenièrere make the jump into “superstar” status? And which team has the best goaltending in the division after several teams have made changes?

The next division to preview is the Central Division. What type of season can we expect from the returning Jonathan Toews? How will Tyler Seguin look and will he help the Stars back to the Playoffs? And is Colorado still an elite team after the goaltending switch they were forced to make?

The boys are back and they start their season previews with the Pacific Division. Will the Kraken have success right out of the gate? Will Hyman be enough for the Oilers? And who is going to win the division when all is said and done? All these questions and more are answered.

It’s summer time, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any hockey news to talk about. Nick & Ryan jump on the show to go through some of the top headlines from the 2021 off-season, so far. Marc-Andre Fleury traded to Chicago, Philipp Grubauer signed by the expansion Kraken, Montreal drafting Logan Mailloux, and Jack Eichel is still with the Buffalo Sabres.

Nick & Ryan use episode 50 to develop their own Seattle Kraken rosters! Based on the players that have been made available in the Expansion Draft, the guys create and compare their teams. It’s broken down division by division in a nice and easy to consume method.

The 2021 NHL season has come to its conclusion and that means that it’s time for Nick & Ryan to put it to bed and move into offseason mode! But not before they recap some of the finer teams and moments from the year.

The first five NHL Award winners have been announced, so the guys give their opinions.

Nick & Ryan preview the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals series between the Islanders versus the Lightning, and the Golden Knights versus the Canadiens. They provide what each team needs to do to win their series and also provide their predictions.

Nick is back this week and joins Ryan to recap all of the 2nd round Stanley Cup Playoffs series. The guys examine the Mark Scheifele hit on Montreal’s Jake Evans and give their opinions of it and the 4 game suspension as well. The theme of each series keeps circling back to top level goaltending and the teams that are and are not getting it.

Ryan hosts this show solo this week and breaks down the four 2nd round playoff series. He looks at each team individually and what they need to do to win 4 games this round. He wraps up each preview by providing his prediction for the series winner.

Ryan and Nick are joined by Michael Mazzei (@TheLeafsIMO) from the Behind the Net Pod to talk about the John Tavares Injury and the Nazem Kadri suspension. They also discuss the Department of Player Safety, the IIHF World Hockey Championships, and the first round of the NHL Playoffs. They end the show as they always do with the Players of the Week, 3 Hot/3 Not and the Randomizer game with Mike.

Nick & Ryan go LIVE for the first time! They take a quick look at those playoff series that have begun and provide opinions on those opening contests. They fill out the show with their Players of the Week, 3 Hot & 3 Not, and conclude with The Randomizer.

It’s time for the Stanley Cup Playoffs!!! Nick & Ryan break down each of the eight 1st round series. They discuss what each team needs to do to win their series and then they give their predictions. The other Garage Door Sports talent has also been polled for their predictions and they are shared throughout the episode.

Last week was a crazy story between Washington’s Tom Wilson and the New York Rangers. There was violence, there was firings, and a lot of people have a lot of opinions. Nick & Ryan share theirs and recap the entire situation that was.

Turner Sports swooped in and has become the 2nd national broadcaster of NHL games in the US for the 2021-22 season! Nick and Ryan look at whether the success that TNT has with their NBA shows can be brought into their NHL presentations.

Robin Lehner of the Vegas Golden Knights had some very interesting comments about vaccinated players, the NHL loosening Covid protocols for those players, and the mental health of the players. Nick and Ryan weigh in on these issues and focus on the argument of the player’s mental health versus the competitive advantage teams may gain from relaxed Covid protocols.

The Vancouver Canucks came back after Covid-19 ripper through their organization. The defeated the Maple Leafs 3-2 in overtime in their return. Nick & Ryan examine how their return has been handled and the team’s safety issued surrounding it. They also discuss whether the Canucks will complete the 56 game schedule and how.

It was an uneventful NHL Trade Deadline this year, but there were some trades. Nick & Ryan break down their favourites and the ones they didn’t like. Then they take a look at which teams won the day and which ones fel flat.

The Vancouver Canucks have had over 20 players and staff test positive for Covid-19. The rumours coming out are that it has really taken a large physical toll on many of those people and even family members! Nick & Ryan look at how they possibly move forward with their season, or IF they move forward with their season.

Referee Tim Peel got caught making a “make-up call” on a hot mic during an NHL game last week between the Predators and Red Wings. He will no longer referee in the NHL because he has compromised the integrity of the game. Nick & Ryan discuss the league’s punishment and what drove it to this point.

The NHL’s Trade Deadline is fast approaching and this year’s will like none before it. Nick & Ryan examine how the ongoing pandemic will affect the moves that would normally be made on or before Deadline Day.

It’s the mid-season point of this shortened NHL campaign, so Nick & Ryan go over their award winners from halfway through the season. Hart Trophy, Norris, Vezina, Calder, and Jack Adams will all be discussed as well as division winners and a quick Cup champion prediction.

Nick & Ryan dive into the hiring of Daryl Sutter as the head coach in Calgary. Was the Tom Wilson hit on Brandon Carlo worth the 7 game suspension? And “Canada’s Hockey Dad” has passed away and the host share a few thoughts about the Great One’s father.

The Co-Director of Scouting for the OHL’s Erie Otters, Mike Battah sat down for an interview with Nick & Ryan this week. They talked about Mike’s job during a normal season and during this Covid season.

Lots of news and notes from around the hockey world this week and Nick & Ryan are here to break it down and provide opinions. Laine was bench early into his Blue Jackets tenure. Ron Hextall and Brian Burke have new jobs with the Penguins. And the Red Deer Rebels will be living at their home arena for the 2021 WHL season. This and more all covered this week!

As of February 7, approximately 15% of the games scheduled in the NHL have been postponed due to Covid Protocols. As of the same date there have been zero postponements in the North Division. Nick & Ryan examine if the league will get this under control and how.

When will the 2021 NHL season begin?!?!?! Negotiations continue between the NHL and the NHLPA but it seems no progress is being made towards starting the season on January 13th. Also on the show, what if hockey players went into the Hall of Fame with a single team’s logo, like baseball players wearing a team cap? Nick & Ryan look at a few examples and decide what logo they would enter the Hall with. Plus the Randomizer helps the guys close out the show.

Nick & Ryan invite fellow Garage Door Sports Network podcaster Kyle (@KyleVarty) to join our show. We get into the first of three Power Rankings episode and this week focuses on the goalies! The Randomizer goes for a spin and determines the game played in the final segment.

The guys recap the first round of the NHL Draft, including players selected as well as the presentation of the first (and maybe only) virtual Entry Draft. There were also many signings and a couple of trades leading up to the Draft, which Nick and Ryan examine. They conclude this episode with the Randomizer as well as Nick reveals the challenge that Ryan has to complete for being the loser of their playoff pool!

The Tampa Bay Lightning are the 2020 Stanley Cup Champions and that brings an end to the longest NHL season in history! Nick & Ryan start looking ahead to next season by identifying buyout candidates. Then in our final segment, Nick halts the Randomizer and offers Ryan a lifeline in their challenge. Lastly, ESPN interviewed 9 anonymous NHL players about the playoff bubbles in Edmonton and Toronto and Nick & Ryan give their opinions on the results of that piece. The 2020 Stanley Cup Final will be between either the Dallas Stars and the Tampa Bay Lightning, or the Stars and New York Islanders. Nick & Ryan provide their thoughts and predictions for both possibilities. They close the show out by turning on the Randomizer and playing Who Am I.

There is only one NHL “bubble city” now and that means that it’s time for Nick & Ryan to give their Conference Finals predictions! They also examine the storylines that will follow each team as these unique Stanley Cup Playoffs reach their conclusion. Near the end of the episode Ryan fires up the Randomizer and tries to claw his way back in the challenge versus Nick.

The Boston Bruins were eliminated in the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Where do they go from here? Nick and Ryan look ahead to their 2020 offseason by discussing their free agents and the team’s salary structure. At the end of the show they turn on the Randomizer and find out what game they are palying.

Ryan and Nick talk about the NHL players following the NBA and MLB in boycotting games in an effort to bring awareness to the racial inequity that goes on in our world. They also provide 2nd round playoff predictions and add their two cents to many other happenings from the past week in the world of hockey. At the end of the show they fire up the Randomizer to see what game they will be playing.

Ryan and Nick look at the strong play from the Colorado Avalanche after their 5 game first round series win. Is this team the Cup favourite going into the next round?
